EPIC's Mission:

Empowering People for Inclusive Communities (EPIC) prepares young people with disabilities to be actively engaged community leaders through education, leadership development, and community service.

EPIC's Vision:

EPIC’s vision is for young people with disabilities transitioning into adulthood to be empowered to embrace their abilities and leadership skills, in order to achieve their goals for gainful employment, higher education and to live healthy lifestyles.

Role: EPIC Advisory Board Member

Purpose of the Advisory Board: The EPIC Advisory Board will be made up of a diverse group of adults and youth from Boston and Worcester who believe in and support the mission of EPIC. Advisory Board members are instrumental resources and consultants for EPIC’s ability to provide leadership and youth development programs. This board will consist of 20-25 members from the community from diverse geography, sex, age, ability and race.

Benefits to Advisory Board Members: Membership on our advisory board will provide you with an opportunity to develop future leaders, serve the community, and cultivate your own personal growth and development.

Responsibilities of the Advisory Board: EPIC’s Advisory Board will assist in expanding the EPIC Community, building EPIC Programs, and (most importantly) supporting EPIC’s young leaders. EPIC Advisory Board members are dedicated to:

● EPIC’s mission, vision & values,

● working with people of all ability levels

● the financial wellbeing of EPIC,

● encouraging staff development,

● contributing time, engagement, and effort.

Commitments for the Advisory Board: EPIC Advisory Board Members agree to:

● attend EPIC Advisory Board Meetings each month (currently via Zoom),

● attend the annual Board Retreat,

● volunteer for at least one EPIC Service Warrior Day and attend two annual signature events each year,

● assist with fundraising (become an EPIC Giant, participate in events, secure sponsorships, etc.),

● refer at least one person to apply for their seat should they decide not to continue upon completion of term.
